A very warm welcome to St. Patrick’s Grammar School.
I am delighted that you are interested in getting to know our school and learn about the ‘Red High’. I am confident that our newly designed interactive website will showcase the rich, varied and full life of our school.
St. Patrick's Grammar School, founded by the De la Salle Brothers in 1934, has a long and proud tradition of success, not only in academic education but through the development of each individual's talents in a wide range of extra-curricular activities. We are extremely proud of our rich heritage as we begin the celebration of our 85th year.
We moved to our new £18 million building in November 2011 and our students and associated school community have succeeded in strengthening the unique ethos that has defined St. Patrick’s Grammar School throughout its history. Our school has never been about the institution or buildings, but has always focused on the student and his or her unique talents and needs. It is this focus that led to the successful awarding of ‘Investors in Pupils’ in November 2013 – the first school in Ireland, north or south, to achieve such an accolade. Moreover, our most recent Post-Primary ETI inspection’ in February 2014’ and our Sustaining Improvement Inspection in October 2016 endorsed our ethos and work. ‘St. Patrick’s Grammar School continues to demonstrate a high level of capacity for sustained improvement in the interest of all the learners.’
We pride ourselves on the excellent home-school and staff-student partnerships and on the effectiveness of our Pastoral Care system including the Counselling Service for students. We believe that our students' success is primarily due to the fact that we encourage and challenge them to explore our God-given gifts: spiritual, intellectual, physical as well as social, in a warm, friendly, caring and supportive atmosphere.
As a Catholic school, we strive to build upon family values and foster a strong sense of faith and social responsibility in our pupils. These values underpin our school community, defined by its motto, Signum Fidei, (Sign of Faith). How we interact and support our students in their development is influenced by Gospel values, as witnessed by the life and actions of St. John Baptiste De la Salle, our founder.
The Lasallian tradition of empathy and service to others is very important to us and all pupils play a part in helping others, in school, in their local community and in areas of need throughout the world. We encourage and equip every student in St. Patrick's Grammar School to become thoughtful and caring citizens, able to take their place with poise and assurance in our increasingly technologically advancing society.
St. Patrick's is, above all, a happy school; a place where pupils are expected to work hard to fulfil their true potential, but where they will also find enrichment, fun and lifelong friendships.
I am extremely proud and privileged to lead a staff who take pride in their professionalism and in their students. We are confident that every student who comes to us will be very well prepared for the exciting challenges as future leaders in society.
