Personal Development

All students have a weekly tutorial period in form class groups, during which the Personal Development programme is delivered, by the Form Teacher, supported, when appropriate, by external agencies. The aim of this programme is to empower students as mature, independent and responsible young men and women, able to cope with the challenges they will face in life in the twenty-first century. Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE), Health Education and Drugs Education, Road Safety and Safe Social Networking, make up part of this programme. Work on preferred individual learning styles and study skills are also central; students are encouraged to become independent, self-aware and motivated learners who, with the support of their teachers, set ‘smart’ targets for themselves and evaluate their own performance, to ensure they maximise their talents and abilities.
