Welcome to St. Patrick’s Grammar School, Downpatrick or as it is often known throughout Northern Ireland ‘the Red High’. St. Patrick’s Grammar School, founded by the De La Salle Brothers in 1934, has a long tradition of success, not only in academic education but through the development of each individual’s talents in a wide range of extra-curricular activities. This website will provide you with much information about life in St. Patrick’s and yet even here we can only really give you a brief glimpse into our school community. Here you will find up to date information on school policies, details of upcoming events, and coverage of the latest events, and coverage of the latest events and news celebrating the extracurricular and academic life of the school.
As a pupil, you can access information about the curriculum, Pathways, examinations, public and internal assessments and sporting and musical fixtures. You can also access our ‘Virtual School’ through our Moodle portal.
As a parent, you will also be able to access copies of policies in our ‘Parent Portal’ and find copies of circulars or guides sent to parents during the school year. A copy of our most recent school prospectus is also available for download.
As a past pupil or staff member, you can complete the registration form in the Alumni Section so we can keep you up date with school life and notify you of upcoming events that might be of interest.
I hope you will find this site a useful insight into what St. Patrick’s represents. You can also follow us on twitter and Facebook (both of which can be accessed directly from this homepage). As always, we welcome your feedback on any aspect of school life and of this website in particular.
St. Patrick’s is, above all, a happy school, a place where pupils are encouraged to work hard to fulfil their true academic potential but where they will also find enrichment, fun and lifelong friendship.
I am particularly proud to lead a committed staff who take pride in their professionalism and in their students. We are confident that every student who comes to us will be very well prepared for the exciting challenges as future leaders in society.
