Welcome to the St Patrick's Grammar School, Science and Technology web page. These pages will provide you with information on the department and the subjects taught.

In the Science and Technology Department there are 11 teachers, Mr Malachy Corrigan (Department Head/Chemistry), Miss Michelle Clancy (KS3 Science Coordinator/Biology), Mr Gerard Tumelty (Technology Coordinator/Technology), Mr Gerard Lennon (Physics), Mr Frank M cGovern (Chemistry), Mr Gerard Tate (Biology), Mr Brian Harte (Biology), Mr Gerard Fitzsimons (Chemistry), Mrs Anne M cCann (Technology), Mr Ron Regan (Technology), Mr Andy Anderson (Physics) and 3 Technicians, Mrs Anne Lively and Mrs Breige Branniff (Science)and Mr Peter Peacock (Technology).

The department has 10 special practical rooms. In Science there are 7 laboratories, all equipped to teach junior science and 4 well stocked preparation rooms to compliment these. There is a cluster of C2K ICT equipment dedicated to science and all the labs have been refurbished to meet modern day standards.

The Technology Block was opened in 1998 and consists of a three room technology suite with two stores and a small planning room.

The Science curriculum supports the main aims of the school. The following are the basic aims of all the sciences.

  • To provide opportunities for practical and investigative science.
  • To enable the pupils to become confident citizens in an ever increasing technological society
  • To recognise the usefulness and limitations of scientific procedures and appreciate how they can be applied.
  • To suitably prepare students for further study and employment.
